Turtle Rescue

I stopped at the end of a bike ride to take some photos of the wildflowers in the area, and while we were standing there, I heard something that sounded like a heavy briefcase hitting the ground. “Holy $hit!” my friend Lori said, and I turned around to see what had caused the noise. A turtle was laying at the bottom of a cement holding wall – according to Lori, it had fallen about 6 feet!

Being gutsy, Lori picked the turtle up – it hissed at her – and she carefully walked it down to the nearby creekbed and we set it free. We still have no idea how that turtle (likely a female) got up on the wall… Ms. Turtle (identified later as a Red Eared Slider) took off down the creek, probably pretty relieved to be away from us!
