Metal work

Dragonfly by Anne Woods

I just bought two of these gorgeous dragonfly sculptures from a superbly talented metal-sculpting friend, Anne Woods. They’re a combination of steel, brass solder, and heat-treated copper – the heat-treatment is what makes the wings so fantastically colored. The one pictured here is the smaller of the two – I have this one and one larger.

As I work more with metal, I am constantly amazed by the incredible talents of others who work it – this is not kid’s play, my friends. Call Anne a blacksmith, a sculptor or an artist, but what she does takes a lot of physical strength, an incredible amount of planning (not MY best thing) and a boatload of patience. Want to see more? Check out Anne’s webpage for more!
